Our client has taken a decision to target the rapidly developing civil nuclear power market. This represents a significant initiative and is intended to allow us to extend and develop our nuclear expertise into new markets for the Company. Our strategy is to exploit our nuclear capabilities to create a business focusing on new build manufacturing services, in service reactor plant support and lifetime extension, and future concept development activities.
Opportunities exist within our engineering team for NDE Engineers to support the development of new build plant and equipment and to develop solutions in support of in-service customers.
Qualifications and experience
With a degree or PhD in a relevant engineering/science discipline, you will be ideally be PCN (personnel certification number) qualified through BINDT (British Institute of Non-destructive Testing), though equivalent qualifications will be considered. Experience of working within the Nuclear Industry would be advantageous.
You will be involved in the assessment of plant integrity through the application and development of inspection techniques and the development of inspection capabilities. You should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of ultrasonic, radiographic and eddy current inspection techniques. Knowledge of MIPS and GUIDE software is desirable but not essential.
Experience of working in manufacturing sites and external sites would be advantageous, as would involvement of maintenance and development of codes and standards to meet regulatory and customer requirements, writing of inspection procedures and technical assessment of third party procedures against established codes and standards.
Candidates who are willing to travel and who are either members or working towards membership of a professional body will be at a distinct advantage.
