Person specification
Our client is offering a unique opportunity for engineers to work on both Defence and Civil New Build Nuclear projects in the UK and overseas.
Nuclear Safety Engineers are required to provide safety case input into the licensing of existing and next generation UK reactors and support systems. We are particularly looking for experienced nuclear safety engineers with strong safety case and deterministic analysis skills and those with probabilistic and reliability skills.
Responsibilities may include
• Development of safety case strategies.
• Preparation of staged safety cases (PSR, PCSR, POSR, etc) to support the operation of new plants.
• Preparation of modifications to existing plants.
• Integrate with the design teams to ensure the incorporation of nuclear safety case requirements.
• Act as HAZOP/HAZID Chairman or Secretary.
• Undertake hazard assessment, fault screening, deterministic and probabilistic safety assessment, ALARP studies and SIL assessment.
• Specify and manage supporting safety studies from other technical areas, eg reactor kinetics, plant performance, reliability assessment, radiological consequence assessment.
• Conduct availability, maintainability and reliability analysis including FMECA.
• Produce probabilistic safety analysis, event and fault tree analysis.
Experience
• Degree in Engineering, Maths Physics or equivalent.
• Track record of delivering high quality safety submissions.
• Experience in modern standard safety case writing for Nuclear Site Licensees.
• Knowledge of UK nuclear regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of submarine and/or power station nuclear safety systems.
• Good communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Ability to work to process and procedure is mandatory.
• Project management would be advantageous but not essential.
• Chartered status or equivalent preferred.
• Rolls Royce Nuclear business have multiple UK sites; flexibility and a willingness to travel will be important.
